Traffic Engineer £14.00 - £25.00 per hour Reed Professional Contracts are currently looking to employ a Traffic Engineer on behalf of our Local Government client. You will be leading a team of three Technicians and with them will; As Traffic Engineer you have responsibility, under the direction of the Senior Traffic Engineer for the successful delivery of the Traffic Management function, to manage and improve the existing County Highway Network to increase safety and facilitate appropriate use/access. - Consider and respond to requests/complaints from elected members, public, police and other organisations ensuring that the responses are in accord with current policies and service objectives. - Where investigation/work is to be taken forward either area-promoted or arising from a request/complaint you will compile the relevant site information, evaluate opportunities/hazards and seek observations on problems and possible solutions from interested bodies. This information will be used by the jobholder to determine a preferred solution. - Have responsibility under Construction, Design and Maintenance (CDM) legislation. Responsible for the safe design and specification of traffic works, including investigation of, for example utilities and siting, liaison with service providers as required. - Carry out specified safety audits of highway schemes and Fatal Accident Investigations when directed. - Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and standards in relation to traffic management. - Identify the need for works, within an area of responsibility and feed this into the continuing development of the needs based budget or capital funding. - Monitor expenditure against the agreed financial profiles produced by the service provider or appointed contractor/consultant up to a value of £500,000.
