A Category Manager is required to be a change agent, within the procurement dept. of a leading manufacturer. Applicants need sourcing experience across engineered components & subcontract machining, and an understanding of category management strategies. The Category Manager will work closely with senior managers to support the introduction of category management into the procurement function. The Category Manager will also be responsible for developing sourcing strategies across; raw materials, manufactured parts / engineered components, and subcontract machining. Specific duties of the Category Manager include: 1. Creation and development of specific category procurement strategies 2. Supplier selection, assessment, negotiation and management activities 3. Reducing costs and improving quality of supply 4. Implement modern procurement tools - savings tracker, contract management system, supplier dashboards etc. 5. Supplier development and improvement activities 6. Support R&D teams and NPI activities 7. Analyse market, pricing and cost trends 8. Contribute to an environment of process improvement and new ideas Category Manager applicants should meet the following criteria: 1. Strategic procurement expertise within a manufacturing or engineering business 2. Experience using, or knowledge of category management techniques 3. The ability to act as a 'change agent', and introduce new tools/systems into the Procurement function 4. An understanding of MRP 5. CIPS training/qualification, or degree - desirable
