Our client is looking for a Commis Chef to join their award winning Hotel based in Barnstaple. You will need to have previous experience within a high turn around kitchen and have a passion about the dishes you create. Our clients can train someone how to carry out certain tasks, but nobody can change a person's essential personality. So it is important to them that they recruit people who have a friendly approach, a 'can do' attitude and a genuine passion for excellence. As a commis chef, you will learn practical skills, including looking after your knives and equipment and the proper preparation of food. At this stage, you will be learning everything there is to know about food preparation and safety so it is important that you are willing to learn, listen to what you are told, and take everything in. You will most likely be under the instruction of a chef de partie and you may move around the different sections of the kitchen learning different techniques and methods. Key responsibilities: Maintaining high standards of hygiene Preparing the ingredients for a more senior chef Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation Shift pattern work usually 45 hours per week At our Clients offer: Excellent career progression and variety of different style kitchens Lots of training and support Excellent Tips and Benefits To work at a beautiful venue Accommodation is available at a small charge of £45 per week Overtime is possible , extra days will be paid.
