Solicitor - Child care
My client a large local authority based in Taunton are looking for a Child care solicitor. This is a interim position running until end of the year but is likely to be extended. This will be a challenging, fast paced role but rewarding role there may be some flexibility in working from home, although you will be to attending court as and when needed. Ideally the client is looking for local authority experience but they would consider candidates without as long as you have child care experience. In this role you will be responsible for : Your our own advocacy for hearing that may last up to one day- preparing cases for hearing, including instructing Counsel where necessary Personally conducting cases in Courts and Tribunals including Public Inquiries to represent the County. Preparing reports for and provides comprehensive legal, procedural and administrative advice to Committees, Sub-Committees and other bodies including ensuring the legal accuracy and practicability of proposals contained in reports or proposed meetings. Checking the accuracy of minutes and takes legal action as required following the meeting. Drafting any documents needed, such as contracts, court applications, creating new and original documents as required eg. Service Level Agreements. Negotiating with other Solicitors or third parties in settling documentation or disputes concluding agreements and settlements on the best terms available or as instructed by the client Department. Keeping officers and elected Members and legal colleagues informed of legislative changes in their area of work.
