C++ Software Engineer in Exeter, UK – 14537BR Description This role would suit a talented software engineer looking to develop exciting applications used by international blue chip corporations, research institutions and universities worldwide. For more information about the products you will be working on, please see . As a C++ Software Engineer you will be involved in areas such as 3D image processing, visualisation and simulation. This varied role will involve both the refinement of existing software and helping to bring new features from initial concept through to product release. This position is open to a wide range of candidates, from recent graduates through to experienced software engineers, with attractive remuneration at all levels. Responsibilities As part of the software development team, your duties, depending on skills and aspirations, will include: Developing algorithms (image processing, visualisation, etc.). GUI development (intuitive 2D/3D interaction, etc.). Implementing, testing and documenting related software features. Improving, optimising and extending existing code. Requirements - Knowledge, experience, skills, and competencies To be considered for this position, you must have: A degree in Computer Science, Software engineering, Applied mathematics, or similar, preferably a first or 2:1. Good knowledge and experience of C++. Good analysis and problem-solving skills. Motivation to write high quality, efficient and elegant code. Strong desire to learn and explore new technologies. Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative whilst being a team player and keeping an eye on the team’s goals. Communicate effectively with a range of people. Good English. Desirable Knowledge of, or interest in, the following areas may be beneficial: Mathematics and algorithm development. Class design, software architecture. Computational geometry/Constructive solid geometry (CSG). OpenGL or DirectX. Multithreading. Scripting languages. VTK. ITK. Visualisation and image processing libraries in general. wxWidgets.
