Behaviour Mentor & Cover Supervisor

23.75 hours per week (Mon – Fri),

Grade D, 39 weeks per annum (term time plus 1 week)

Fixed Term Contract until 31/08/2018

We are looking to appoint a Behaviour Mentor/Cover Supervisor to join our pastoral team. The role of the Behaviour Mentor is to work with school staff and other agencies to provide support to children who need help overcoming barriers to learning and/or where behaviour and attendance issues are a cause for concern.

The Behaviour Mentor will need to be able to carry out and lead effective sessions. Sessions will be prepared, but the successful candidate should also be able to work on their own initiative where necessary. The intention is to bring about sustained change with individual students, to improve their behaviour, attendance and raise their aspirations when their behaviour has disrupted classroom lessons.

The Behaviour Mentor will receive referrals from Heads of Houses and will address the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential, or to access the curriculum. When there are no referrals, this role will revert to general Cover Supervision.

The Behaviour Mentor will work with a range of students, including children with special or medical needs, challenging behaviour and children with EHCPs. They will be predominantly education based, but will have a wider remit including working with families and the wider community. They will work with children on a one-to-one basis or in small or large groups, so the successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes Listener; Facilitator for learning; Encourager; Motivator; Role model; Tenacious; Resilient. You must be a calm and assertive person with high levels of emotional resilience.
