We are currently working with the South West MS Therapy Centre whose Centre Manager is retiring at the end of 2107.  The Centre provides therapies and support to people living with and caring for someone with Multiple Sclerosis across the South West.  Where appropriate,  therapies are offered to people who are living with other conditions, both chronic long term and to aid recovery following illness, accidents and planned operations.  Therapies are offered at various subsidised rates to members.  The Centre provides a welcoming, caring environment for all and is run by a small staff team of five as well as twenty committed and hardworking volunteers. 


The Centre Manager is responsible for the day to day management of Centre and its environment.  This includes:

  • Developing strategic direction and preparing operational plans.
  • Responsible for the direct line management of the staff team including recruitment and provision of appropriate training.
  • Manage the security of the building and gardens, plan and monitor its maintenance and repair and deal with listed building requirements
  • Attending meetings of the national and regional MS Centre’s as required
  • Financial management
  • Reporting regularly to the Board of Trustees and attending Board meetings.


We are seeking applications from candidates who can offer the following experience and attributes:-

  • An experienced manager with a background in a customer focused environment (health sector experience would be ideal)
  • Exceptional communications skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of people in a warm and empathetic manner
  • Able to speak publicly with confidence and passion about the charity and its work
  • Financial acumen
  • An understanding of the charity sector
  • A high level of computer literacy (experience of Quickbooks would be helpful)

This role requires a special person who will be able to ensure the Centre continues to provide the care and support to people who are suffering with life changing conditions, managing the team and the facilities in a professional and empathetic manner.
